Complex Endorsements
Complex Aircraft Endorsement
Master the Mechanics. Fly with Precision.
A Complex Endorsement is required by the FAA (per FAR 61.31(e)) for any pilot wishing to act as Pilot in Command (PIC) of an aircraft with retractable landing gear, flaps, and a controllable-pitch propeller—known collectively as "complex" features.
At Southern Flight Aviation, we offer streamlined, hands-on training that builds the technical skills and situational awareness needed to safely and confidently operate complex aircraft.
Course Overview
Ground Instruction:
Systems training: landing gear, flaps, constant-speed props
Emergency systems (e.g., gear failure procedures)
Weight, balance, and performance planning
System limitations and aircraft checklists
Flight Training:
Normal and abnormal gear operations
Power settings and RPM/MP combinations
Takeoff, landing, and go-around procedures
Configuration management and energy control
There is no minimum flight hour requirement—the endorsement is issued when the instructor confirms you’ve demonstrated safe and competent use of all complex systems.
